GAIA workshop – Gramsci-Keynes School (Prato) – 25/05/2017

The first training workshop at the Gramsci Keynes school, Prato, Italy, took place on May 25th 2017. The goal of the workshop was to introduce the GAIA project to some teachers, acting as representatives of the teaching staff.
More specifically, we have introduced the objectives of the project and the expected benefits and methodology. We then described the sensing infrastructure deployed in the school, measurement data gathered and made available to them. We also showed in detail the GAIA Challenge application and discussed the GAIA suggested educational methodology and educational scenarios, finally we proposed some examples of short-term and long-term experimentation activities.WorkshopPrato

The teachers have actively participated to the meeting, making questions and clarification requests, providing useful suggestions (e.g., for integrating GAIA activities within the school educational programs and activities, such as “programma alternanza-lavoro”) and reporting on results of past experience with the students on similar topics.
Although the short-term activities have been proposed for a period close to the end of the education year, some teachers have provided their availability for conducting the mini trial with students.
