DIAG – Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering Antonio Ruberti

Installed Devices
8 NanOMeter GSM

The department was established in 1983 as an evolution of the Istituto di Automatica; in 2001 it was named after Antonio Ruberti, the eminent scholar who founded it. For many years the Department was distributed over three sites far apart from each other. In May 2007 it moved to the completely renewed premises of via Ariosto 25, in the center of Rome. We focused on one side of the building, being the other side very similar in terms of energy consumption. We have two devices for each floor with the objective to monitor light and socket consumption of that floor, while the basement is not monitored. Completing the installation, the 2 NanoMeters were installed in the general electrical panel to monitor the general energy consumption of the entire building.

Orthopaedics Building Details
Installed Devices
1 OBox
8 OMeter
2 NanOMeter GSM

The Orthopaedics building forms part of a series of structures designed by Arnaldo Foschini from 1933 to 1935. The building’s architectural style combines classical and rationalist elements, emphasizing its position beside the central avenue and the functional nature of the building. We have focused on the fourth floor of the building for the energy monitoring activities, which contains technical and administrative offices with a small set of meeting rooms and some shared areas. The 2 NanOMeters are used to monitor consumption of the two sides of the floor (one for the entire floor and the other one for the left side). The OMeter are used to monitor and control lights and electrical sockets, whilst the OBox is used as a gateway of the plant, responsible to collect all the data and send them to the cloud platform.

Faculty of Economics Building Details
Installed Devices
8 NanOMeter GSM

The Faculty of Economics is one of the 11 faculties of Sapienza University of Rome. Over the last few years, the Faculty of Economics has had an average student population of 10,000 with a high percentage of students coming from outside Italy. At present, undergraduate courses are scheduled on a three-year system, followed by a two-year master degree course. The installed devices are responsible to monitor mainly consumption of common areas. Three electrical cabinets were selected, monitoring the following areas:

  • Notice Board on the ground floor
  • Ground Floor atrium lights
  • Presidency
  • Stairway and library lights
Palazzo Servizi Generali (PSG)
Installed Devices
3 NanOMeter GSM

The building is composed by three different sectors (A, B, C) plus the Economato Building. There is one low-voltage General Cabin serving both the buildings. PSG has ten electrical panel so organized: (i) Five electrical panel in Building A and (ii) Five electrical panel in Building C. There are no electrical panel in Building B. In A and C electrical plant is designed in the same way; one electrical panel for each floor plus one electrical panel for the entire sector building (in this case covering all the A plus half of the B and all the C plus the remaining part of B). The two portion that compound the building are very similar to each other. Therefore, we decided to install the smart meters only on the A sector of the building. We are monitoring main electrical circuit of the sector A ground floor (serving Secretariat of Sociology and Political Science), in terms of lights, sockets and conditioning machine.
